NACAN Regulations

You must have an active NHS email address;

You agree to the collection of your contact details and assessment performance on a secure database. This is held on a Northumbria NHS Foundation Trust server, and will not be used for any other purposes other than quality control of NACAN, and to contact attendees for supervision sessions & course updates;

You must have discussed with your line manager:
– what your anticipated role may be after NACAN;
– protection of your time during Stage 1 (18 classroom days + opportunities to see patients in your own clinical area);
– how you will achieve the desired patient contact during Stage 1 & 2.

You must have one (or more) clinical colleagues, willing to assess your clinical performance using the MiniCex scoring sheet. They should be sufficiently qualified to recognise your clinical skills & contribution to the patients management, ie medical staff above Foundation Doctor Level, or established nurse practitioner;

If you wish to gain academic credits at Level 6 or Level 7 you must undertake Stage 3, and present a Case History;

You must complete the course reading, exercises and patient assessments requested by the NACAN teachers;

Attendance is compulsory for all scheduled teaching sessions & education supervision meetings;

Learners must undertake 3 MiniCex evaluations & attend 3 education supervision meetings in Stage 2. Failure to do so will prevent full recognition of clinical expertise, in the portfolio;

There is a 3 month time limit for the completion of Stage 2;

The Stage 3 presentation must be completed within 3 months of completing Stage 2.
